Requesting Public critique!
This is an image of Princess Sally Acorn and Amy Rose I make. I don’t really like Amy, but I enjoy drawing her and as she’s a friend of Sally’s, I’ve decided to draw this with a nonsensival “Never Give Up” message for the heck of it.
I’ve done this with Macromedia Flash 8 professional. If you know the program, would you mind giving me tips on how I could make my artwork more effective? (Blur, shading tips, lineart tips..) You don’t HAVE to, though. Thanks!
Oh no, I hate giving critique to an artist better than me! What can I say? This looks really good. Let’s see… If the only light source is the light in the middle, I think the shading on the back of Sally’s hair should be in reverse, since the side facing the light is in shadow, and there are highlights on the back of it when the light is coming from the front. Maybe also have the highlight between he legs trail off, because right now that line of highlight makes it look like there’s an even distribution of light all along the curve, when it should get darker between her legs, I think. What are they looking at? They don’t seem to be looking at each other. They both seem to be looking at the word “give”. Also, with Amy’s hand, the shadow on her thumb is positioned right, but with the drop shadows behind it, it looks almost like the shadowed bit of her thumb is the first layer of drop shadow at first glance, which makes her thumb look a little weird.
I’m familiar with Adobe Flash CS3 and up. I don’t know how that compares to Macromedia Flash 8. I’ve mostly used it for animations rather than still artwork, so I don’t think anything I know would be news to you, sorry.
